Cactus hat, free pattern

It’s that time of the year again… The charity ‘goedgemutste breicampagne’ (Dutch charity) started. It is the goal to make as many tiny hats you can and in January/ February, these tiny hats are sold with the Innocent smoothies. For each hat they sell €0,20 is donated to ‘het ouderenfonds’. This fund raises awareness for the loneliness that is prevelant amongst the elderly. Organizing fun activities and finding new hobbies for the elderly, helps them to enjoy life more. I think everyone deserves a nice old day, without loneliness! Find more info on degoedgemutstebreicampagne.

If you participate in crochetting or knitting tiny hats for the elderly, please share them. I would love to see them.

There are two cactus hats?!

This year I made all kinds of different hats. And now I’ll share the cactus pattern (on the right):

Hat:

  1. make a magicloop with 6 stitches (6)
  2. 2 double crochet (DC) in each stitch *6x* (12)
  3. crochet 1 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (18)
  4. crochet 2 DC, 2DC in next stitch *6x* (24)
  5. Crochet 3 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (30)
  6. Crochet 4 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (36)
  7. Crochet 5 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (42)
  8. Crochet 6 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (48)
  9. – 15. DC 48 (48)

Cactus parts:

  1. make a magicloop with 6 stitches (6)
  2. 2 double crochet (DC) in each stitch *6x* (12)
  3. crochet 1 DC, 2 DC in next stitch *6x* (18)
  4. – 5. 18v (18)

PomPom:

Use some left over yarn, wind it around two fingers 45 times. Tie the yarn together and pull tight. Cut the loops with a scissor and make it fluffy!

Assembly:

  1. Fill the cactus parts with soft filling, attach them to the hat. With a different color add some details to the cactus hat! (I used some pink yarn)
  2. Add the pompom to the hat and attach it.

Enjoy your tiny cactus hat!
